Fiat is gearing up to expand its product portfolio in India by entering in to the growing SUV segment with the Chrysler’s Jeep Grand Cherokee. The French carmaker is also planning to launch its premium brands like Alfa Romeo & Maserati. Having launched only models, the hatchback Punto & the sedan Linea, Fiat has very small presence in India. Till now, it's been playing more significant role as a diesel engine supplier than as a carmaker. Thus, to expand its presence in India, Fiat is depending on US automaker Chrysler, in which the company acquired a majority stake some years ago. Fiat is also planning to introduce its premium brands like Alfa Romeo & Maserati in the Indian auto industry.
