Days ago, they brought you a narrative about the range
topping Mercedes Benz GL-Class SUV being assembled from knocked down(CKD) kits
at the automakers Chakan factory. Now, they have some more information in this
regard. The GL-Class SUV that will be assembled in India in the coursework of
2013 will be an all new GL-Class SUV model that will replace the existing
model, and will be based on the 2012 ML-Class SUV’s platform. The brand new
2013 Mercedes Benz GL-Class SUV will be launched later this year
internationally and is expected to arrive in to India by the second quarter of
2013, after which CKD assembly will commence. The launch of the new 2013
GL-Class SUV will also see BMW coming out with the all new X5 SUV and with new
SUVs trying to unseat the sales topper Audi Q7 Crossover from its perch,
fascinating times appear to be ahead for the Indian luxury SUV market. The 2013
GL-class SUV will come with a brand new front finish that will feature a twin
slatted grille with the Mercedes emblem more prominently displayed. The
headlamps get more sharply raked with daytime jogging lamps making it in to the
equation. The rear also gets new tail lamps and new exhaust tips. Also, a fully
kitted out AMG model dubbed the GL63 is expected to make an appearance later in
the model’s life cycle, like the ML-Class’s ML63 model which comes with a 5.5
Liter twin turbo V8 engine.
